Full job description
We are seeking an experienced IBM SevOne Engineer with strong expertise in enterprise network monitoring, SevOne administration, alert management, and network troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring and optimizing the SevOne platform, monitoring enterprise network infrastructure, managing integrations, and driving root cause analysis for recurring network issues.
Required Technical Skills

Strong hands-on experience with IBM SevOne administration and configuration

Expertise in SevOne polling policies, threshold groups, alert policies, device groups, discovery profiles, and reporting

Strong knowledge of BGP, SNMP, ICMP, and enterprise network monitoring

Experience monitoring WAN, campus, and data center infrastructure

Experience with PagerDuty and/or ServiceNow integrations
-
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
-
Experience with alert routing, deduplication, consolidation, and severity management
Roles & Responsibilities
-
Own and manage SevOne platform configuration, including polling policies, threshold groups, alert policies, device groups, discovery profiles, and reporting.

Configure ICMP polling with confirmation logic, including consecutive-failure validation.

Define and maintain device-class-based threshold profiles.
-
Implement flap detection, alert deduplication, and alert consolidation mechanisms.
-
Tune interface performance thresholds for utilization, errors, discards, and packet loss.
-
Manage monitoring across WAN, campus, and data center environments.
-
Configure BGP adjacency alerting with appropriate hold-down timers.
-
Lead root cause analysis for recurring network, performance, and circuit-related issues.

Design, develop, and maintain SevOne operational dashboards.

Define and implement monitoring methods using SNMP, SNMP traps, WMI, and agent-based monitoring.

Manage device lifecycle activities within SevOne, including device onboarding, configuration, maintenance, and offboarding.

Manage SevOne integrations with PagerDuty, including webhooks, payload configuration, and severity mapping.

Implement alert routing based on device class, business criticality, and severity.

Develop and maintain alert deduplication and consolidation rules to minimize alert noise.

Troubleshoot monitoring gaps, false positives, threshold issues, and alerting failures.

Collaborate with network and operations teams to improve monitoring coverage, reliability, and incident response.
Preferred Qualifications
