Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
We are seeking a Medical Director to join our Medical team leading the Tempus+ program.
Tempus+ is our collaborative external research network that connects academic institutions and health systems to accelerate data-driven research in oncology. Participants gain unparalleled access to Lens, our cutting-edge, AI-empowered analytics platform of de-identified, real-world multimodal data. Through Tempus+ Working Groups, we foster an ecosystem of thought leadership aimed at high-impact evidence generation to advance the frontiers of cancer care.
In this role, you will drive a continuous cycle of research strategy, evidence generation, adoption, and education. You will serve as the face of the Tempus+ program, cultivating deep relationships with participating institutions, guiding clinical investigations, and scaling research output. Success in this role requires seamless partnership with specialized internal teams across Tempus to transform massive amounts of data into powerful research tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary medical point of contact for Tempus+ institutions, cultivating deep relationships with leading academic and community physicians.
Foster a culture of research collaboration via collaborative working groups.
Travel up to 20% to provide hands-on, on-site support, training, and relationship management at Tempus+ institutions.
Support researchers through the entire lifecycle:
Hypothesis Generation: Help external investigators hone hypotheses and build formal research proposals.
Data Exploration: Provide scientific and technical support to explore the Tempus+ Data Library via the Lens platform.
Publication Strategy: Collaborate on disclosure, presentation, and publication strategies for high-impact scientific journals.
Shape clinical investigation strategies to ensure all research is scientifically sound, clinically valuable, and aligned with the latest oncology standards.
Provide medical expertise and clinical context to internal data scientists, informaticians, and business development managers during external communications and customer interactions.
Engage Tempus+ sites with Lens utilization, molecular tumor boards, data integration, and clinical trial portfolios (including TIME, Studies, and Clinical Development).
Deliver polished, clinically oriented presentations to medical audiences.
Qualifications:
MD/DO or MD/DO/PhD with a strong background and clinical expertise in oncology or a closely related field.
Experience directing multi-site observational projects, clinical registries, and precision medicine initiatives.
Deep familiarity with medical informatics, advanced clinical data modeling, biomarker evaluation, genomic testing, and utilizing real-world data to solve complex oncologic questions.
Innovative thinker who can build strong partnerships with key medium- to large-sized cancer hospital networks
Ability to translate complex molecular and technical data into clear, actionable clinical insights.
Experience with sales, sales strategy and marketing for commercial life science initiatives is preferred
Illinois Pay Range: $270,000-$320,000
The expected salary range may vary for other locations. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
