Position Summary

Make an Impact

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll help develop advanced radar systems that enable the U.S. Navy to detect, track, and respond to complex threats in demanding operational environments. At Ultra Maritime, you’ll work at the intersection of mission requirements and engineering execution, helping turn customer needs into systems that perform in the real world.

You’ll work alongside RF, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and other engineering disciplines throughout the system lifecycle—from requirements and system design through integration, verification, and test. Your technical judgment will help shape system solutions, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver capabilities that support the warfighter.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Support the development of advanced radar and mission systems for Navy applications.

  • Translate customer and mission needs into system requirements, designs, and technical solutions; develop, derive, validate, and analyze requirements throughout the system lifecycle.

  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines from concept and requirements through system design, integration, verification, and test.

  • Evaluate technical approaches and system-level trade-offs with the Project Engineer, balancing performance, risk, cost, schedule, and technical feasibility.

  • Analyze system performance and engineering data to evaluate system behavior and inform technical decisions.

  • Support integration, verification, and test of complex hardware and software systems, including test planning and procedure development.

  • Work with advanced digital signal processing hardware and software algorithms to support radar system performance.

  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of technologies and architectures supporting future Navy capabilities.

  • Support proposals, IR&D, and other strategic technology development activities.

What You Bring

  • Experience in one or more systems engineering disciplines, such as CONOPS development, requirements development/derivation/validation, system design, performance analysis, integration and test, or test plan/procedure development.

  • Basic scripting experience with Python or MATLAB.

  • Hands-on experience working in Linux/UNIX environments and using scripts or other technical tools.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

    Qualifications:

    • 6+ years of relevant systems engineering experience

    • BS Degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college or equivalent years of experience

    • Eligible to obtain a Secret level US Government Security Clearance.  Security Clearances are granted to only US Citizens.

    • Willingness to travel (10-25%, individually tailorable)

It’s a Plus If You Have

    • Experience developing models, simulations, or data analysis tools using Python or MATLAB.

    • Experience integrating and testing complex hardware/software systems, including automated or unit testing.

    • Knowledge of radar, RF, digital signal processing, or algorithms supporting detection, tracking, navigation, or discrimination.

    • Experience with C++, Navy platforms or common Navy interfaces, or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques.
