Assistant Director of Nursing (RN)

Norwalk Care Center, Norwalk, Connecticut

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADNS) to support the Director of Nursing in overseeing all clinical nursing operations at Norwalk Care Center, a skilled nursing and long-term care facility committed to delivering compassionate, resident-centered care. As a key member of our leadership team, the ADNS will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compliant nursing care to our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in managing daily nursing operations and staffing across all units

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS guidelines and Connecticut Department of Public Health standards

  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives

  • Conduct and assist with care plan meetings, resident assessments (MDS), and interdisciplinary team reviews

  • Oversee infection control practices and documentation protocols

  • Respond to and manage clinical concerns, family inquiries, and incident reports

  • Step into the Director of Nursing role in their absence

  • Assist with staff scheduling, orientation, and in-service training

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Connecticut

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role

  • Long-term care or skilled nursing facility experience preferred

  • Familiarity with MDS/RAI process, PDPM, and care planning

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal nursing home regulations

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • BSN preferred; MSN a plus
