Job Description:

Vitalant is hiring newly graduated and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientists to bring skilled technical support to our Donor Product Laboratory.

What to Expect

SIGN ON BONUS ELIGIBLE

Schedule: Monday - Friday with Rotating Holidays

Work Shift: 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Base Wage: 35.39 - 46.80

2nd Shift Differential: 9%

As a Med Lab Scientist, you'll get to:

• Performs moderate complexity testing (e.g. quality control of components, single donor platelet yields, hematology testing on Sysmex analyzer, residual WBC testing, Hemoglobin S testing, pH testing, etc).

• Participates in inventory management including blood product issuing.

• Performs final record review/quality review.

• Maintains accurate records and documentation.

• Participates in quality control, preventive maintenance, and validations.

• Provides technical support/liaison to hospital transfusion services.

• Resolves problems between departments that prevent production and distribution of blood components.

• Participates in rotating on-call schedule responding to urgent customer issues and system alerts outside of operating hours

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Bachelors degree in science with a MLS ASCP or AHN certification.

• CA State licensure as required by regulations

Experience and MLS Levels

Medical Lab Scientist I

• 1 years of relevant laboratory experience meeting CA state Clinical Lab Scientist requirements and certification.

• Pay: $35.39 / hour

Medical Lab Scientist II

• MLS/BB certification required.

• 2 years in a clinical laboratory setting required.

• Pay: $39.48 - 40.70 / hour

Medical Lab Scientist III

• ​SBB certification preferred. MLS/BB certification required.

• 3 years lab experience with 1-year IRL required.

• 2 years lead/charge experience required.

• Pay $45.40/hour - $46.80/hour
