Responsibilities:

The Associate Director of Central Engineering & Maintenance is responsible to provide technical and administrative coordination for Lilly site electrical engineering, commissioning and qualification, capital projects, calibration, and maintenance planning services. The role will have the site electrical engineer, commissioning and qualification engineer, CAPEX team, calibration team, and maintenance planning team as direct reports. The role will report to the Sr. Director – Engineering Concord.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Provide technical and administrative oversight for site electrical engineering. This includes power distribution, UPS and emergency power systems, and the site electrical safety program (e.g. NFPA 70E, arc flash) in partnership with HSE.
  • Provide technical and administrative oversight for the site commissioning and qualification program. This includes the transition from project to site ownership (e.g. qualification) and ongoing sustainment (maintaining in qualified state), including periodic reviews and Asset Qualification Monitoring (AQM).
  • Lead the site capital portfolio from scoping and funding through execution, handover to operations, and close-out. Own capital budget, forecast accuracy, and delivery of projects on scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide technical and administrative oversight for the site calibration program, including schedule compliance, traceability, and ongoing compliance with internal standards (e.g. LQS, GQS) and external regulatory requirements. Lead out-of-tolerance investigations and product impact assessments.
  • Provide technical and administrative oversight for site maintenance planning and scheduling. This includes work order planning, CMMS data integrity, backlog management, PM optimization, and shutdown planning in partnership with Operations.
  • Provide technical and administrative oversight for any changes or deviations in electrical engineering, commissioning and qualification, capital projects, calibration, and maintenance planning. Conduct robust root cause investigations ensuring appropriate CAPA.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, including talent planning, performance management, and succession.
  • Ensure practice matches procedure
  • Champion continuous improvement
  • Represent central engineering and maintenance capabilities beyond the Lilly Concord site (e.g. other Lilly sites and global functional groups).
  • Develop and maintain metrics to measure performance against business objectives and make necessary changes to improve performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • At least 5 years engineering and/or maintenance experience in a manufacturing site

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Site start up experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of basic requirements of regulatory agencies
  • Previous people leadership experience, including leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Previous experience in operations and engineering
  • Previous experience with highly automated equipment
  • Previous equipment qualification and process validation experience
  • Previous experience with deviation and change management systems including Trackwise
  • Experience with calibration programs and maintenance planning in a CMMS (e.g. SAP)
  • Experience managing capital projects
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$123,000 - $180,400

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
