Director of Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace CNC

Location: Bay Shore, NY (On-site)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $170,000 to $200,000 per year

Lead manufacturing engineering, CNC programming, and NPI for flight-critical aerospace components, and build the digital manufacturing strategy that takes the operation to the next level.

Must-Haves

  • 10+ years in aerospace, defense, precision machining, or advanced manufacturing, including technical leadership
  • Strong hands-on expertise in CATIA manufacturing and CAM workflows
  • Experience with VERICUT or equivalent NC verification and machine simulation software
  • Proven NPI, first article, and production launch leadership for complex metallic components
  • Advanced knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining, tooling, fixtures, and workholding
  • Knowledge of GD&T, CMM inspection, probing, process validation, and AS9100
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent accomplishments)
  • Eligibility to access export-controlled technical data
  • Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

What You'll Do

  • Lead manufacturing engineers, methods engineers, and CNC programmers
  • Turn customer drawings and CATIA models into production-ready processes
  • Guide milling, turning, mill-turn, and multi-axis machining strategies for aerospace materials
  • Set CATIA CAM standards, tooling libraries, postprocessor practices, and program release controls
  • Strengthen VERICUT verification with accurate machine, fixture, and tool models
  • Own NPI from design transfer through first article approval and production launch
  • Reduce scrap, rework, and proof-out risk through simulation and technical reviews
  • Build a multiyear digital manufacturing roadmap and investment business cases
  • Evaluate automation, AI-assisted tools, and additive manufacturing for fixtures and prototypes
  • Serve as a customer-facing technical leader on manufacturability and readiness
  • Develop a high-performing engineering team with clear priorities and accountability

Nice-to-Haves

  • Landing gear, actuation, rotorcraft, structural, or turbine engine component experience
  • CATIA templates, knowledgeware, or feature-based programming
  • Advanced VERICUT configuration and optimization
  • Model-based definition, digital twin, MES/ERP, or Industry 4.0 experience
  • Additive manufacturing for tooling and NPI

Compensation and Benefits

  • $170,000 to $200,000 per year
