The Machinist IV is responsible for working from drawings and/or written instructions, set up and operate a variety of manual or CNC machinery and equipment to produce precision parts.
Additional Duties:
- Operates multiple machines at multiple work centers and performs specific machinist functions. Must be able to set up and troubleshoot machines at multiple work centers.
- Ability to prove out new part programs for production.
- Collaborate with programming/engineering on blueprints and programs.
- Provides instruction, training and leadership to employees in other positions within the Machine Shop.
- Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.
- Identifies dull or worn inserts or tools and makes changes as necessary.
- Makes tool offsets as required.
- Completes preventative maintenance as required.
- Regularly uses microscope and other high end measuring equipment to view and inspect parts.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school graduate; or GED; or BOCES Machine Shop classes; or Skilled trade school graduate
- Experience: 3 years of machine shop experience. Advanced shop math skills. Advanced blueprint reading skills. Knowledge and demonstrated experience of CNC/ Manual machines. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Demonstrated experience in order of operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 years of machine shop experience. Ability to apply concepts of trigonometry. Advanced inspection measuring equipment knowledge.
