Position Summary

The Senior Finance & Regulatory Lead is intended to evolve into the leadership position responsible for establishing and overseeing all financial, regulatory, and reporting functions for the Canadian Branch of a U.S.‑domiciled insurance company. In the near term, the individual in this role will work closely with a third-party consulting firm and internal stakeholders to implement the financial, regulatory and operational processes necessary to support the Branch’s launch and ongoing operations.  This position offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to help build the Canadian Branch from the ground up and grow into a key leadership role with broad responsibility for its financial and regulatory oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Finance and Accounting Operations

  • Oversee financial reporting, accounting and month-end close activities for the Canadian Branch under IFRS, U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory reporting frameworks;
  • Coordinate premium, claims, commission and reinsurance accounting and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger;
  • Support the preparation and submission of OSFI regulatory filings, capital monitoring and financial statement reporting;
  • Lead the development and enhancement of financial reporting capabilities within the global ERP system to support Canadian regulatory and management reporting requirements;
  • Coordinate external and internal audits and regulatory examinations.

Governance and Branch Management

  • Support the establishment and ongoing management of the Canadian Branch’s finance, reporting and regulatory compliance functions;
  • Lead the development of branch governance, including policies, procedures and risk management practices to support the Branch’s growth and operational objectives;
  • Coordinate communications and reporting with regulators, external audits and internal stakeholders.

Strategic and Cross-Border Collaboration

  • Serve as key liaison between Canadian operations and U.S.-based finance, actuarial, tax, compliance and executive leadership teams;
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support business growth, pricing initiatives, product development and distribution partnerships;
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, capital planning and long-term strategic initiatives for Canadian operations
  • Contribute to the successful establishment and scaling of the Canadian Branch, with the opportunity to grow into the leader responsible for all finance,
