Interventional Cardiologist
Banner - University Medical Center Tucson | University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson
Join a well-established academic cardiovascular program in Southern Arizona. Banner - University Medicine is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Interventional Cardiologist to join the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in Tucson. This full-time opportunity combines high-quality clinical care, collaboration across cardiovascular subspecialties, and the teaching and scholarly mission of an academic medical center.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary cardiology practice of approximately 29 providers and care for patients with both common and complex coronary and cardiovascular conditions. The division includes programs in coronary intervention, structural heart, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, advanced imaging, and cardiovascular surgery, creating a strong environment for coordinated care, education, and program growth.
Position Highlights
- 1.0 FTE faculty physician position in Interventional Cardiology (non-structural position)
- Practice within a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cardiovascular service line
- Provide inpatient and outpatient interventional cardiology care within an academic medical center
- Perform coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary interventions consistent with training, credentials, and granted privileges
- Evaluate and manage patients before and after invasive cardiovascular procedures
- Participate in shared clinical coverage and call responsibilities with physician colleagues
- Teach and mentor cardiology fellows, residents, medical students, and other health-professions learners
- Opportunity to participate in clinical research, quality improvement, program development, and other scholarly activity
- Faculty appointment with the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson, commensurate with credentials and experience
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical care. Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered interventional and general cardiovascular care across the inpatient and outpatient continuum.
- Procedural care. Perform diagnostic and interventional coronary procedures and provide appropriate pre-procedure assessment, informed consent, post-procedure management, and longitudinal follow-up.
- Team collaboration. Partner closely with general cardiology, structural heart, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, cardiovascular surgery, imaging, hospital medicine, nursing, and advanced practice providers.
- Education. Contribute to the education, supervision, and professional development of fellows, residents, students, and members of the cardiovascular care team.
- Quality and safety. Support clinical quality, patient safety, appropriate utilization, peer review, and continuous-improvement efforts within the cardiovascular program.
- Academic contribution. Participate in scholarly work, clinical investigation, programmatic growth, and service consistent with interests and assigned effort.
Essential Qualifications
- MD or DO degree, or equivalent medical degree
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology
- Completion of an accredited fellowship in Interventional Cardiology
- Eligibility for an unrestricted Arizona medical license
- Eligibility for medical staff membership and clinical privileges at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson
- Current or obtainable DEA registration
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent patient care, teamwork, professionalism, and education
Preferred Attributes
- Broad expertise in contemporary coronary intervention and management of complex cardiovascular disease
- Experience in an academic or teaching environment
- Interest in clinical research, quality improvement, education, or cardiovascular program development
- Collaborative, adaptable approach in a multidisciplinary and evolving clinical environment
