JOB DESCRIPTION:

PRIMARY DUTY:

The Grants Coordinator will work with all institution community members to secure external funding for projects to support the University’s mission

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.     Serve as the principal contact for the institution for grant activities that include pre-award and post-award procedures that ensures a consistent approach to external funding.

2.     Coordinate budget development and grants administration for pending and awarded grants

3.     Facilitate the project development phase of grant proposals, working with the grantee to define project goals, measures of success and necessary funding level

4.     Serve as a resource for Project Directors (PIs) during the implementation phase of funded projects

5.     Assist Project Directors (PIs) with assessment and report writing

6.     Research and identify potential funding sources including studying the field of funding organizations to identify those who are a good match for the institution

7.     Inform potential grantees of funding sources that potentially match their goals

8.     Develop and maintain a calendar of cyclical funding programs to know when ongoing programs typically request proposals to allow for careful planning and program development

9.     Work with campus leaders to develop projects that are fundable when feasible

10.  Serve as author or co-author for grant proposals when required

11.  Regularly update the Provost and academic leadership team on the status of grant proposals in progress, pending, and awarded

12.  Train potential grant awardees through a series of seminars and/or one-to-one workshops

13.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Provost of Graduate, International, and Learning

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree

Experience: Documented experience in grant proposal writing and grant administration

Skills: Familiarity with grant proposals, especially federal/state funding agencies. Ability to use independent judgment; possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and coordinating and collaborating many projects individually and with others involved.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position will work in a typical office environment from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break. This position may require additional hours during nights and weekends to meet deadlines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Does not require supervision of other employees;

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED:

Laptop computer with MS Office software package and cost center oversight or management in the Workday ERP system for grant projects.
