Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in the implementation of individualized treatment plans as prescribed by the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring adherence to protocols and guidelines.
• Providing hands-on therapy, which encompasses therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and functional training tailored to each patient's therapy goals.
• Monitoring and meticulously documenting patient progress using electronic health records to assess treatment effectiveness and inform adjustments to care plans.
• Educating patients on exercise techniques and providing clear instructions for home exercise programs, thereby empowering them in their recovery process.
• Collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to coordinate patient-centered care.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records that comply with healthcare regulations and support quality assurance initiatives.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will primarily focus on orthopedic patients, who may be recovering from surgeries, injuries, or chronic conditions affecting mobility and function. You will work with a diverse demographic that includes post-operative rehabilitation patients, athletes recovering from sports injuries, and individuals with degenerative musculoskeletal disorders. This will involve developing a rapport with patients to better understand their specific challenges and goals, thereby enhancing their recovery experience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or an accredited Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Physical Therapy Assistant.
• Current, unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant state license for New York.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in an orthopedic setting is required, demonstrating proficiency in rehabilitative techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to the physical therapy field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively convey critical information to patients and healthcare providers alike.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of experience is required, candidates with additional certifications in specialized areas, such as sports therapy or pediatric physical therapy, are encouraged to apply. Compensation and Benefits
