Hourly Rate
$19.00Summary
The Banquet Setup Houseperson is responsible for the timely and professional setup, breakdown, and maintenance of banquet event spaces. This position works closely with the Banquet Captain and Banquet team to ensure all rooms and event areas are prepared according to banquet event orders, room diagrams, and department standards.The Banquet Setup Houseperson supports the successful execution of events by ensuring that equipment, furnishings, and event spaces are properly arranged, maintained, and restored before, during, and after each function.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and break down banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and outdoor event areas.
Safely move and arrange tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, risers, bars, buffets, and other banquet equipment.
Follow event diagrams and setup instructions accurately.
Assist with room flips and changes between events.
Ensure event spaces, equipment, and storage areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained.
Deliver and retrieve banquet equipment, supplies, and furnishings as needed.
Assist Banquet Captains and Servers with event-related setup and operational needs.
Respond promptly to last-minute changes and requests during events.
Maintain a safe working environment and follow proper lifting, moving, and equipment-handling procedures.
Properly store equipment and return event spaces to their required condition following each function.
Work collaboratively with Banquets, Culinary, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other departments as needed.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Reliable, team-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while representing LJBTC, Inc. and the Banquets department.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Previous banquet, hospitality, event setup, hotel, country club, or similar experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations. Spanish-speaking ability is preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry banquet equipment and furnishings.
The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally, the employee may be required to lift up to 65 pounds.
Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
Ability to safely operate and drive an electric utility cart on property for the transportation of banquet equipment, supplies, and furnishings.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The pace is generally moderate and at times, may be quite fast.

INTERACTION
Employees in this position interact daily with managers, supervisors and all LJBTC personnel. Although employees in this position must regularly work independently, employees in this position are required to keep the supervisor informed of his/her location and always be assessable. Occasionally, this position will interact with guests and members.
SCHEDULING
This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
