Course: Nonlinear Editing

This course follows the general chronology of editing from capture and logging, through editing and effects, to final output of a finished program. The first half of the course is devoted entirely to a mastery of the editing software. The second half of the course is devoted to examining how and why editing is important. Different editing theories are explored, including montage, fast cut, long take, jump cut, and others.

  • Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions while incorporating innovative teaching strategies.
  • Engage students in cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.
  • Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum: MFA/MA or other related terminal degree with coursework in Film/Video Editing AND
    • one year of university instruction or approval by the Dean.
