Work Environment
This position requires you to work onsite at a state-of-the-art hospital facility in Yonkers, ensuring you are equipped with the latest tools and resources to provide exceptional patient care. Working Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, you will have a structured schedule with occasional flexibility to adapt to patient needs or clinic demands.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Implementing treatment plans as directed by physical therapists, focusing on therapeutic techniques and interventions.
- Providing pain relief treatments, restoring function, and promoting optimal physical performance for patients.
- Assisting patients through active and passive therapeutic exercises and functional training to enhance mobility and independence.
- Applying physical modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation to support recovery.
- Monitoring patient progress and reporting any changes in condition to the supervising physical therapist, ensuring that patient communication is clear and documented.
- Educating patients on the proper use of mobility aids like wheelchairs, crutches, and prosthetic devices.
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and participating in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care strategies.
- Engaging in the quality assessment and performance improvement activities to enhance service delivery.
- Performing other duties as assigned to promote a supportive environment.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your role will focus on a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgery, injury rehabilitation, pain management, and those with chronic conditions. Building rapport with patients and fostering a positive therapeutic relationship will be essential to support their recovery journey.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an Associate's degree in science or applied science as recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Current state-certified physical therapy assistant license.
- Active CPR certification to ensure patient safety during all treatments.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle that meets insurance requirements for any required travel.
Preferred Experience
