Bunzl Safety is currently seeking a Warehouse Manager for our facility in Piperton, TN. The Warehouse Manager will provide leadership to the branch and manage a variety of general warehouse activities in an accurate, efficient and cost-effective manner. This position is responsible for our VAS (Value Added Services) department, overseeing 30+ employees and driving operational excellence across functions including product labeling, logo application, kitting, assembly, repackaging, sewing, vending machine packing, and other specialized customer solutions.

The VAS Manager partners closely with Sales, Customer Service, Distribution Operations, and Inventory teams to ensure customer requirements are met with accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service. This leader is accountable for productivity, quality, safety, team development, and the successful execution of value-added programs that enhance the customer experience.

This position plays a critical leadership role within our distribution operation by managing people, processes, and resources that support customized product and service offerings. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys leading large teams, and has a passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 30+ employees across multiple shifts.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Manage staffing plans and labor resources to meet business demands.
  • Support succession planning and employee growth initiatives.

Operations Management:

  • Direct daily value-added service operations to ensure customer requirements and service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved.
  • Oversee customization processes including product labeling, logo application, kitting, assembly, sewing, repackaging, vending machine packing, and special projects.
  • Monitor workflow, production schedules, and resource allocation to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks while improving throughput and service performance.
  • Ensure accurate execution of customer specifications and work orders.

Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary operational liaison for value-added service activities.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Distribution, and Inventory teams to coordinate customer projects and timelines.
  • Communicate project status, production schedules, and potential risks to stakeholders.
  • Develop solutions that proactively address customer needs while maintaining service commitments.

Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure all work is performed according to established quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety programs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to quality or service issues.
  • Utilize metrics and data to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and enhanced customer service.
  • Champion Lean and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department.

Performance Management:

  • Monitor and analyze key operational metrics, including productivity, labor efficiency, quality, service levels, and employee engagement.
  • Develop action plans to improve operational performance and achieve departmental goals.
  • Support budget objectives and cost-control initiatives through efficient resource management.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in distribution, warehouse operations, manufacturing, fulfillment, or value-added services environments.
  • Proven experience leading large teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
  • Demonstrated success managing production workflows, labor planning, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting customer-specific packaging, customization, labeling, kitting, or light manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
