Midwest Pump Works, a UFT company, is a pump sales, service, and consulting company with offices in Green Bay, Wisconsin; Dundas, Menahga, and Palisade, Minnesota; Ankeny, Iowa; and Louisville, Nebraska. We offer a wide range of products for municipal, industrial, and construction projects, including water and wastewater pumps. Our factory-trained technicians are always available to assist with pump repairs, motor repairs, and control panel repairs. Midwest Pump Works in Ankeny, Iowa is hiring a Service Technician. We are actively seeking an individual with a strong mechanical aptitude who excels in both independent work and collaborative efforts with vendors and colleagues, whether on-site or in our shop. This Service team plays a crucial role in the upkeep and restoration of wastewater pumps, panels, and associated equipment.
The Service Tech will cover all of Iowa and Nebraska. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30-4 with some weekends as needed.
What you'll do:
- Pump rebuilding: breakdown, evaluation, repair, testing.
- Installs and ensures the efficient and safe operations of all pump equipment, new or replacement parts.
- Inspect and repair pumps to ensure efficient operation and proper functioning equipment.
- Confined space entry to complete lift station inspections and rebuilds.
- Disassemble broken or defective pump equipment to facilitate the repair and reassemble when repairs are complete. Perform routine maintenance of all pump equipment.
- Keeps accurate and timely records of equipment movement, installation progress, service schedules, customer interactions, and other paperwork required for proper documentation of work performed.
- Clean and test all repaired equipment to ensure operations and appearance are up to company standards.
- Respond to emergency callouts.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
- 2 + years of previous technicial experience
- Experience with rotating equipment is preferred
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, twist, kneel and lift 50 lbs. without injury and can enter inside manholes, pump station wet wells, and other spaces identified as “confined spaces”
- Maintain an Iowa driver’s license and a clean driving record
- CDL is preferred but not required
- Ability to handle occasionally dirty/odorous conditions
