Position Overview:

To provide laboratory testing services. Duties include obtaining specimens, performing testing, preparing specimens for transportation, providing laboratory reports, participation in quality control and quality assurance programs, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Clinical Laboratory Scientists of all levels must demonstrate good judgment and technical skill.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • CLSL-Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist Upon Hire


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • Preferred one (1) year continuous experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

  • For CLS without experience, prior experience in the clinical laboratory/healthcare and Palo Alto Medical Foundation (3 years) is preferred. Equivalency will be determined by the Laboratory Director and the Personnel office staff.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Decision Making/Problem Solving: Demonstrate ability to work independently. Ability to accept, implement and evaluate change.

  • Knowledge of phlebotomy, specimen handling, processing and experience with Lab Information Systems.

  • Expert knowledge and ability to perform in all technical areas of the lab as assigned.

  • Basic knowledge of how to operate and troubleshoot all essential laboratory and office equipment.

  • Planning/Organizational Skills: The ability to perform with minimum supervision, all routine procedures and the most advanced procedures in the laboratory. Ability to accept, implement and evaluate change
