This is a corporate position that reports directly to the Manager of Community Accounting. This position is responsible for the monthly and annual close of certain Covenant Living campuses and will drive the operational and financial analysis of assigned campuses.

This position will play a key role in preparing monthly reporting packages and will work with assigned businesses to drive understanding of the actual financial outcome. This position will prepare financial projections on a regular basis and also prepare the annual operating budget.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete the monthly general ledger close and financial statement preparation within prescribed corporate accounting policy time-frames. Work with Expense Cycle Management, Revenue Cycle teams and FP&A to ensure appropriate adjustments to the community financials are recorded in a timely manner. Complete monthly statistical reporting, including entrance fee accounting and related schedules.
  • Prepare and analyze journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reconcile and review balances in the general ledger for accuracy and completeness, including maintain and review of schedules supporting account activity and balances.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory compliance reports and filings.
  • Perform financial and operational analysis, including detailed analysis of general ledger accounts, preparation of reporting package and providing written commentary on key indicators and metrics.
  • Attend and participate in monthly financial and operational review meetings with operations and community leadership.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Required Degree: Bachelors in Accounting or Finance or Equivalent Degree
  • Preferred Degree: N/A
  • Preferred Certificate(s):
    • Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience:
    • At least three years of audit experience with a public accounting firm is strongly preferred
    • Experience in the continuing care retirement communities and / or healthcare industry is preferred
    • Experience with Workday and MyUnity software is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Excellent understanding of financial statements and financial reporting
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple organizational levels, exhibiting a positive attitude and customer focused demeanor
  • Strong business acumen and ability to simplify complex financial concepts for non-finance professionals
  • Strong attention to detail and proven track record of producing consistently accurate work, while possessing the ability to step back and determine whether outcomes are reasonable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (both written and oral, English skills required).
  • Must be able to develop and maintain positive, cooperative and team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, community leadership and others as required for the job
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook proficiency

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job demands a variety of physical duties including office work, exposure to outside environment, and occasional physical exertion considered light- to medium-duty work. Mobility is necessary to move about the facility and campus. This position requires occasional handling of generally lightweight materials and the physical ability to use several types of office equipment as well as some small hand tools. Has minimal risk of exposure to potentially infectious material as a part of the routine job functions.

  • Clarity of Vision:
    • For near visual acuity Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
    • For far visual acuity, Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.
    • For peripheral vision, observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.

Compensation Pay Range:

$84,459.00 - $126,687.00 per year

Reasonable Pay Estimate

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $84,459.00 - $126,687.00 per year. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
