Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Kansas license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as Part-Time at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as Per Diem at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Shift & Scheduling: Self-scheduling and block scheduling are available. Minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule is required, aligned with department needs and unit staffing plans. Holiday coverage is required. Call or standby requirements are determined by the nurse manager. Must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote.

Unit Details: Patient population includes congestive heart failure (CHF), hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure. RNs titrate drips, including analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control. Remote telemetry monitoring is used. The unit uses CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and ventilators. The charge nurse takes an assignment.

Floating Requirements: First to float as needed; in an extreme need, may float within Zone 4.
