Position Overview

Pro Therapy Services is actively seeking a dedicated and qualified Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team in Riverview, Florida. Your role will be pivotal in assisting patients on their journey to recovery through the implementation of personalized therapeutic treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Work Environment

This role is primarily onsite at our hospital-based facility in Riverview, Florida, where you will work collaboratively with a vibrant team of healthcare professionals. Our clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment and facilities designed to provide the best care. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility needed to meet patient needs and clinic demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the supervising Physical Therapist in developing and executing individualized treatment plans aimed at improving patients' mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
  • Provide hands-on support to patients during therapeutic exercises and mobility training, ensuring they perform activities safely and effectively.
  • Educate patients about proper body mechanics and home exercise programs, empowering them with the knowledge to aid their recovery process.
  • Apply therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, including assessing improvements in range of motion and strength, and communicate findings during team meetings.
  • Prepare treatment areas, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are organized and readily accessible for therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, engaging with Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists to optimize patient care.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients, fostering a motivational environment that aids in their rehabilitation journey.
  • Adhere to all ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients you will work with represent a broad spectrum of ages and conditions, from young athletes recovering from sports injuries to elderly individuals undergoing rehabilitation after surgery or experiencing mobility challenges. Understanding the unique needs of each demographic is essential to successfully tailor your approach to treatment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program and possession of a valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • In-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology as well as the principles of therapeutic interventions associated with physical therapy.
  • Strong skills in executing therapeutic exercises and assisting in modalities under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to connect effectively with patients and engage in teamwork.
