3rd Shift Production Operator


3rd Shift Relief Assistant Cheese Coordinator

Pay: $27.55 per hour plus Shift Differential: $1.00 per hour (if applicable)
Hiring Bonus: $2500
Shift & Working Hours: 10:50pm-6:50am Weekends/Overtime/Holidays as needed.

Job Description:
Assume the duties of the 11:00 pm. Cheese Coordinator in the absence of both the full-time posting holders of the 11:00 p.m. Cheese Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator. As the Assistant Cheese Coordinator, the employee is responsible for all vat room operations, following instructions from the Daily Cheese Make Schedule, and interfacing with the Vat Automation Controls. When working as the Cheese Coordinator, the employee is responsible for operating the vats, collecting and submitting samples, handling of whey cream for the next days cheese production, CIP cleaning of vats & whey cream equipment used for cheese making, and an efficient turnaround time. As the Cheese Coordinator, the employee is responsible for providing direction of all cheese production employees and operations, including necessary interactions with Intake, Whey Plant, and Maintenance departments.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

6 plus months of solid work experience in any industry
Basic computer skills
Ability to follow manufacturer's specifications and direction

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

18 years or older
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Work in cold and/or hot temperatures throughout the day
Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Self-reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision 
Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks
Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team 
Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule
Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions and possess basic mathematical skills
Ability to lift/carry up to 55 lbs.

Must possess or obtain a Wisconsin Cheese Maker’s License within 6 months of accepting the position. If less than one year of experience at Land O Lakes-Kiel, they must be willing to attend required courses that allow abbreviated apprenticeship for obtaining Cheese Maker’s License from WDA.

Must have or obtain WDATCP Pasteurizer’s Operator’s License within 6 months and be willing to attend the WDA recognized training program for pasteurizer operation if they have not already done so.

Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of the computer for Catalyst, Shift Report communications, and to assist new employees with required Safety training.

Must be able to do mathematical calculations.

Must acquire and maintain First aid/CPR/AED certification.

Must acquire and maintain training to participate as a member of the Confined Space Entry Rescue team.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Experience communicating with supervisors and co-workers in a team environment.
Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is a plus
Knowledge of various pieces of high-tech manufacturing processing and packaging equipment.

Physical Requirements for production positions regularly include:

Frequent movements include walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements.
Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present.
Shift schedules that include days, nights, and weekends, some holidays and periodic overtime.
Routinely climbing stairs and ladders while performing the duties of this role.
