About Us

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is located in the Maintenance Department at a multi-custody male correctional facility and is responsible for a variety of accounting functions using NC E-Procurement and the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS). Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Ordering and receiving all supplies and equipment in E-Procurement.

2. Maintaining logs, completing Form CNTR005 and maintaining logs on what has been paid.

3. Maintaining vendor contracts, reconciling P-Cards, and reviewing open Purchase Order Reports and DC-867 forms.

4. Interacting frequently with facility staff, other NCDAC staff, and outside vendors regarding purchase orders and/or P-Card purchases.

5. Verifying checks, processing and tracking payment of all invoices per NCDAC policy.

6. Communicating effectively and working collaboratively with staff at all levels.

7. Maintaining an organized filing system.

8. Working independently and meeting deadlines while performing several tasks simultaneously

9. Processing work orders in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:



  • Documented working knowledge of word processing or spreadsheet programs.

Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs.


About Central Prison

Central Prison in Raleigh, NC has been in continuous service since 1884. It serves as the admission point into prison for adult male felons sentenced to 20 years or more and is the main medical and mental health center for male offenders. It also houses special populations, including death row and safe-keepers.

 

While security requires that certain offenders remain in their cells, there are more than 260 offender job assignments that include working in the kitchen, laundry, or canteen. Offenders also work as barbers, janitors, and clerks. Offenders can attend substance abuse group therapy meetings, Bible studies or other worship services.
