About the Role
KARL STORZ is seeking an experienced CNC Setup Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will set up, operate, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC equipment, including lathes, mills, and Swiss-style machines, while producing high-quality components that support life-changing medical technologies.
Working in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for performing machine setups, editing CNC programs, inspecting parts to blueprint specifications, and ensuring products meet stringent quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced machining technologies and exotic materials while contributing to the manufacture of precision medical device components.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM-12:00 AM
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss-style machines according to setup sheets, layouts, and production requirements.
- Edit CNC programs, make machine adjustments, and troubleshoot machining processes to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Inspect machined components using blueprint specifications and record inspection data accurately.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and basic Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities to support equipment reliability.
- Work with a variety of materials, including stainless steel, nitinol, nickel alloys, and other exotic metals.
- Participate in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including root-cause analysis and process optimization efforts.
What You Bring
- 3-5+ years of CNC machining experience, including machine setup and operation.
- Experience setting up CNC equipment based on setup sheets, layouts, or technical documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and inspect components to print specifications.
- Experience editing CNC programs and making process adjustments as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills related to CNC machining and equipment operation.
- Medium to advanced computer skills and experience with production documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Nice to Have
- Experience machining medical device components.
- Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO 13485, or ISO 9001 manufacturing requirements.
- Experience working with nitinol, stainless steel, nickel alloys, or other exotic metals.
- Prior experience supporting Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
