Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic rehabilitation team in a highly regarded Skilled Nursing Facility located in Vienna, Virginia. This full-time position is vital in delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to our residents, focusing on enhancing their independence and improving their quality of life. The PTA will work closely with licensed physical therapists to execute treatment plans tailored to meet the individual needs of patients.

Work Environment

This position is based in our onsite Skilled Nursing Facility, where collaboration and teamwork are at the heart of our operations. You will engage with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and nursing aides, all dedicated to offering comprehensive care. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a consistent work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement therapeutic interventions as directed by licensed physical therapists, ensuring adherence to established treatment plans.
  • Assist residents in performing therapeutic exercises, enhancing their mobility, balance, and overall functional capabilities.
  • Monitor and document resident progress, noting changes in patients’ conditions and communicating these findings to the therapy team.
  • Educate residents and their families regarding home exercise plans and safety protocols to ensure continuity of care beyond the facility.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with industry standards and participate actively in interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Create a supportive and encouraging atmosphere that motivates patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals and enhances their overall morale.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with elderly residents recovering from surgeries, strokes, or injuries, as well as those requiring long-term care. The diverse patient population will present unique challenges and opportunities to develop customized treatment approaches, fostering independence and improving their functional abilities. You will play an essential role in helping them regain their strength, enhance their mobility, and participate actively in daily life.

Qualifications

  • An Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from a CAPTE-accredited program is required.
  • Must hold an active Virginia PTA license or be eligible for licensure.
  • Possess strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • A passion for working with senior populations and a steadfast commitment to delivering service excellence.

Preferred Experience

  • At least two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, preferably in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting, which will enhance your ability to understand the unique needs of our residents.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and documentation practices is advantageous.
  • Any experience with specific therapeutic modalities or treatment techniques relevant to geriatric care is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
