Job Summary
Our Orthopedic Walk-in Clinic is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – we are open to Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants – to support our team onsite Monday through Friday. The clinic hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, so the weekly schedule will consist of 5, 8-hour shifts. We are open to flexible scheduling options – 24 hours, 32 hours, or 40 hours per week.This is a unique opportunity to work autonomously as the sole APP at our Hatfield Clinic while also functioning as part of the larger Orthopedic team and collaborating with providers and staff across our Amherst location. The clinic provides urgent, same-day access for patients with acute musculoskeletal injuries, offering comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and care coordination, including surgical follow-up when indicated. Onsite radiology services allow for timely assessment and treatment during the patient visit.
The successful candidate will be comfortable independently evaluating and managing both adult and pediatric orthopedic patients, exercising strong clinical judgment, and providing high-quality patient-centered care in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.
Our APPs diagnose and treat a variety of acute orthopedic injuries and conditions, including:
• Sprains and strains
• Sports-related injuries
• Foot, ankle, knee, and hip injuries
• Hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder injuries
• Fractures and dislocations
In addition to these injuries, the candidate must be comfortable:
• Evaluating and treating pediatric patients
• Ordering and interpreting radiographs
• Administering therapeutic and diagnostic injections
• Performing fracture and dislocation reductions
• Applying splints and casts
• Determining appropriate follow-up care and referrals for surgical management when indicated
Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
