Summary

Multiple scheduling options are available for this position, including a rotating days/evenings schedule or an 8-on/6-off schedule with straight day shifts.

Job Description

The Oncology Pharmacist is an integral member of the oncology care team, providing specialized pharmaceutical care to patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions. Decentralized in patient care areas, this pharmacist works closely with oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacy colleagues, and other interdisciplinary partners to optimize medication therapy and support safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care throughout the cancer treatment journey.

The pharmacist supports the safe and effective use of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care medications. Additional responsibilities include treatment-plan and medication-order verification, assessment of therapy for clinical appropriateness, and coordination of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

This role is well suited for a pharmacist who values strong interdisciplinary relationships, enjoys working directly within the oncology care team, and is committed to advancing oncology pharmacy practice. Opportunities may also include precepting pharmacy students and residents, participation in quality-improvement initiatives, and involvement in the development of oncology-related protocols and clinical practice standards.

Qualifications

In a medical center or institutional setting: Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. Must have a thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions; knowledge of state and local regulations.

Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in oncology pharmacy or equivalent oncology pharmacy experience preferred.


License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
