PAY: $17-$20/hour (based on education and experience).
REPORTS TO: Controller
DIRECT REPORTS: No

LOCATION: Bismarck, ND (On-site position; must reside locally and be authorized to work in the U.S.)

JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Intern will support the Finance team with day-to-day accounting and financial activities while gaining hands-on experience in a professional setting. This role will assist with financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close, and other Finance projects, giving the intern exposure to a variety of areas across the department.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Month-End Closing: Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and gathering supporting documentation. 
  • General Accounting: Assist with general accounting activities and maintaining accurate financial records. 
  • Fixed Assets: Assist with maintaining fixed asset records and supporting related accounting activities. 
  • Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of financial reports, schedules, and analysis. 
  • Audit Support: Assist with gathering documentation and information for internal and external audits. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Support Finance projects and assist with identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance team and other departments to support daily financial activities and projects.
  • Perform other Finance-related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Skills and Knowledge

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas).
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Prior accounting or finance experience is a plus, but not required.

Work Conditions

  • Generally, a standard office environment.
  • Sitting required approximately 90% of the time.
  • Repetitive hand motion.
  • Long periods of sitting and working on a personal computer.
  • Ability to concentrate on detail 95% of the time.
