Summary of Position
The Assistant Director of Athletics for Administration and Operations provides senior-level administrative support to the Athletics department and coordinates key operational, compliance, financial, and departmental functions that support the mission of Augsburg Athletics.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level administrative support to the Athletic Director, including calendar and travel management, coordinating department administrative operations, and supporting departmental initiatives.
- Administer approved corporate sponsorship agreements and maintain sponsorship records.
- Coordinate A-Club communications.
- Oversee administrative compliance of athletics camps, including youth protection, compliance with University policies and procedures, accurate and equitable camp payroll, and compliance records and documentation.
- Assist with planning and executing home athletic events.
- Serve as the primary manager of Athletics concessions and oversee its operations, including determining staffing levels, assigning personnel, coordinating vendors, evaluating service and financial performance, and implementing operational improvements within approved budgets and University policies.
- Review and approve assigned purchasing-card transactions and timecard submissions within delegated authority.
- Monitor purchasing card activity and payroll submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Coordinate with the Business Office and Human Resources to resolve administrative and financial issues.
- Other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- This position works a variable schedule and is expected to occasionally work evenings and weekends in support of athletic games, camps, and departmental events.
- Typical work environment is an office. Sedentary work for long periods of time.
- Regular computer and phone use.
- Occasionally lifting up to 45 pounds.
- Movement throughout athletic facilities during events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three (3) years of professional administrative and operational experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in collegiate athletics and/or a higher education environment.
- Experience supervising employees or student staff.
- Experience with financial, payroll, and/or compliance processes.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities using sound judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to interpret and apply University policies.
- Commitment to excellent customer service and student success.
Compensation & Benefits at Augsburg
- The compensation range is $50,000 - $54,000 annually, DOQ.
