Job Description:

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Quality Operations Manager (A320) to join our team based in Mobile, AL.

As a Quality Operations Manager (A320), you will manage, supervise and coordinate all operational Quality activities in Single Aisle Flowline in defined

areas of responsibility. Manages, motivates and develops the Quality team including Supervisors, Lead Inspectors and lineside inspectors. Responsible for ensuring the Airbus Quality Standards of the entire A/C based on the defined
inspection dossier and in accordance with the POA relevant regulations.

Your Working Environment:

On ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your Challenges:

1. Lead/Develop: 40%

• Lead and develop the Flowline Quality Line Side Inspection Team and level 1 supervisors, ensure that the Level 3 qualifications of inspection personnel is in accordance with the Airbus Qualification requirements.
• Ensure that NCs are managed and drumbeat from creation to closure, that Andon’s are priority for all within the MFT.
• Responsible focal point for all Customer presentations and customer interactions on the aircraft.
• Conducts training to ensure optimum performance in job procedures and methods of L1 supervisors and lead inspectors. Ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations/company policies and procedures relating
• to workmanship.
• Represent Flowline to other departments and levels of the FAL. Interface with other departments to facilitate problem resolution and process improvement.
• Conduct periodic performance evaluations, makes recommendations regarding personnel actions and collaborates with Quality Director in employee communication and communicating on personnel actions.
• Plan and control workload of all assigned employees to ensure on time delivery per approved schedule.
• Coordinate with and obtain support from the assigned team.
• Able to provide efficient feed-back analysis and trend to management.
• Act as delegate to the Quality Operations Director when needed.
• Scope includes multiple Business Units and/or larger scope (Ex: FOT)
• Lead at least one improvement initiative/project per year

2. Process Assurance: 40%

• Ensure that all EASA-POA regulatory requirements are implemented and used in the Flowline Product Quality and manufacturing organization.
• Ensure that all technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft are carried out to the POA standards, inspection plans and attested.
• Ensure together with Operations the competence- and qualification management of Operations and Quality Focal Point for the production delegated Inspectors in area of responsibility
• Ensure that the Aircraft production and the milestone FOT is in compliance with the Quality, cost and lead-time targets of FAL-USA.
• Define and implement work level processes based on the experience and recommendations from existing FAL operations. Identifies opportunities and implements adaptations for local application of such ideas.
• Ensure that employees are in compliance with OSHA, safety and environmental regulations.

3. Risk Mitigation/Management: 20%

• Risk mitigation of quality escapes endangering the aircraft built and or product safety, launch of immediate corrective actions
• Support and project manage the deployment & implementation of sustainable improvement projects and standardize way of working like Quality Excellence
• Responsible Focal Point for all external EASA Audits in area responsibility
• Responsible for Continuous Improvement including leading activities and document progress.
• Collaborate with the procurement function to ensure the acquisition of necessary consumable materials as well as tools and other equipment.

Your Boarding Pass:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in Aviation or comparable industry (Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly Processes, Production method, etc.)
• Work with non-conformities and design query notes
• Work with quality management system
• Work with the principles, practices, methods and tools used in aircraft manufacturing
• Ability to work in different production management systems
• High degree of flexibility and initiative
• Knowledge Aircraft manufacturing process with strong emphasis on Structure/Mechanical/ Paint Tasks
• Knowledge of health safety and environmental regulation
• Requires ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with internal customer
• Must be able to use Microsoft office & SAP
• Demonstrably effective communication skills on different levels, a structured way of working and the ability to deal with a volume of complex information.

Preferred:

• Experience as a member and leader of an international team.

• Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
• Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
• Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
• Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
• Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
• Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
• Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
• Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
• Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
• Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
