Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
A highly regarded regional law firm is seeking a mid-level Insurance Coverage Associate to join its established Insurance and Reinsurance practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys sophisticated coverage analysis, complex litigation, and direct client interaction while working alongside an experienced and collaborative team.
This practice advises insurance carriers on complex coverage matters and represents clients in coverage-related litigation involving a broad range of commercial insurance issues.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex insurance coverage issues across a variety of policy types.
- Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, denial letters, and related coverage analyses.
- Handle insurance coverage litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances.
- Advise insurer clients on coverage obligations, litigation strategy, and risk exposure.
- Collaborate with partners and clients on complex insurance and commercial litigation matters.
- Conduct legal research and prepare high-quality written work product.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active bar license in good standing.
- Approximately 3–6 years of insurance coverage and/or insurance litigation experience.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Experience handling complex insurance coverage matters.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
Preferred Experience
- Drafting coverage opinions and reservation of rights letters.
- First-party and/or third-party insurance coverage.
- Commercial General Liability (CGL) coverage.
- Professional liability or excess liability coverage.
- Declaratory judgment actions.
- Coverage litigation and policy interpretation.
- Experience representing insurance carriers.
