The Role:
Location: Lakewood, CO
Assignment duration: Start ASAP and work ongoing
Number of positions: 3
Type: Travel
Shift Type: 24 hour call (7a-7a). All shifts end the following morning at 7a.
Schedule notes: Locums coverage is year-round (365 days). 7-day stints are preferred going into 2027 but not required.
Setting: Inpatient; Level 1 Trauma center; GI serves as consult service (does not routinely admit)
Required Procedures / Duties: Scoping, ERCP, EUS, Endoscopy, GI bleed management, evaluation of GI problems. ERCP and EUS competency required to be considered.
Clinical volume: Admissions ~8-10 new patients with follow-ups; ~5-8 scopes per day
Pediatric: Accepts patients 15 years old and =50 kg; otherwise pediatric patients are not admitted
EMR: Epic. EMR modules must be completed prior to virtual EMR training; virtual training must be completed at least one week prior to first day. AD account creation and EMR access timelines apply.
Support staff: None
Credentialing: Standard timeframe 60-90 days; emergency privileges 1-2 weeks with a clean file. Pre-application and full application must be submitted promptly for urgent dates.
On Call: Yes
Weekend requirements: Yes
Submission & Candidate Requirements:
Board Certified in Gastroenterology - REQUIRED
Active CO license - Highly preferred (IMLC accepted where applicable)
Active DEA - REQUIRED for credentialing (site will consider transferred DEA but it must be maintained for the assignment duration)
Candidates must be available for dates detailed in the job description and must indicate the number of shifts per month they can offer ongoing
Must be able to perform ERCP and EUS and note this in the presentation
Must acknowledge requirement to stay at a preferred hotel and request the pre-negotiated rate at booking
Must acknowledge and complete EMR training requirements in the specified order to avoid missing the start date
Self-inquiry NPDB report and CO license or active IMLC required to release pre-application; candidates with self-inquiry NPDB report are prioritized
Local/drive-in candidates are highly preferred and will be prioritized as Tier 1
Travel Preferences & Lodging:
Preferred lodging (candidates must be willing to stay at one of these properties and request the pre-negotiated rate at booking): Sheraton Denver West; Hampton Inn; Sonesta Simply Suites; TownePlace Suites by Marriott; Fairfield Inn Denver West / Federal Center
Local/drive-in candidates are highly preferred but not required
