Full job description
This role requires a versatile technician who can seamlessly transition between supporting the build of high-current power supplies, assembling electrical distribution panels, and executing the physical installation of facility infrastructure. The technician will play a critical role in the hardware bring-up, debugging, and overall electrical integration of a cutting-edge fusion energy system.
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Assembly & Prototyping: Build and wire power supplies, energy storage systems, custom embedded control boards, and high-current AC-DC converters for HTS magnets.
- Infrastructure Installation: Support the physical installation and cabling of MV/LV switchgear, transformers, distribution panels, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Facility Support: Assist in integrating auxiliary electrical systems and balance-of-plant (BoP) infrastructure, providing electrical connections for cryogenics, vacuum, cooling, and HVAC systems.
- Testing & Validation: Set up testbeds and perform hardware bring-up, signal probing, and parameter optimization under staged load conditions.
- Hardware Debugging: Perform board-level debugging, soldering, and rework on custom printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Documentation: Read, interpret, and provide field markups for single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.

- Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time.

- Ability to work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
