Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.Position Details:
Patient Care Associate
Department: Float Pool - Mercy STL - Ballas Campus π
Hours / Shift: Days (7 am -7pm) Nights (7pm-7am)
PRN - ( 3, 12 hour shifts in a 6 week period) you can pick up as many shifts as you would like.

π©Ί Responsibilities for Patient Care Associate (PCA):
- Obtain vital signs and document in the electronic medical record system π
- Assist with patient care needs, including:
- Meals
- Bathing
- Toileting
- Ambulation
- Mobility assistance
- Patient transport
- Provide clerical support as needed
π¬ Responsibilities for Patient Care Technician (PCT):
- Perform all PCA job duties
- Phlebotomy / blood cultures
- Enteral feeding
- Wound care
- IV / Foley removal
- Tracheostomy care & suctioning
π Training
- Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program
- Gain hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment
π No Experience? No Problem!
- Mercy provides a required 175-hour training program that meets Department of Health and Senior Services requirements
- Training is completed during new hire orientation and must be finished within 90 days
π« Certifications Requirements:
- BLS required within 1 month of hire
- PCA competencies completed within 3 months of hire

πͺ Physical Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds regularly ποΈ
- Prolonged standing and walking during shifts πΆββοΈ
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat π
