Full job description
The Division of Bariatric/GI Surgery of the Department of Surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, located at Highland Hospital, seeks an accomplished and collaborative Medical Bariatrician to join its established multidisciplinary bariatric and metabolic care program. This faculty position offers the opportunity to provide exceptional patient-centered care, contribute to the education of residents, fellows, and medical students, and help advance the growth and innovation of obesity medicine within a leading academic health system. This is an exceptional opportunity for an obesity medicine physician to provide clinical leadership, mentor learners and colleagues, foster multidisciplinary collaboration, and contribute to the continued evolution of a comprehensive obesity medicine and bariatric surgery program.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic and clinical leadership for the obesity medicine program, helping to advance quality, access, operational excellence, and the standardization of care across the enterprise.
* Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of obesity medicine providers across multiple practice locations.
* Collaborate closely with colleagues in bariatric surgery, psychology, nutrition, endocrinology, hepatology, cardiology, primary care, and other specialties to deliver coordinated, patient-centered obesity care.
* Contribute to the growth and development of clinical, educational, and programmatic initiatives that enhance the obesity medicine program.
* Provide mentorship and educational support to faculty, advanced practice providers, fellows, residents, and other trainees.
* Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based medical management for patients with obesity.
* Oversee the medical evaluation and management of patients undergoing metabolic and bariatric surgery, including preoperative optimization and long-term postoperative care.
* Participate in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical trials consistent with the candidate's interests and experience.
Qualifications
* M.D./ D.O. Degree (or equivalent)
* Eligible for a New York State medical license
* Must meet all credentialing requirements
* Compliance with University and New York State health requirements, including successful completion of a post-offer health assessment and drug screen.
* ABOM certification or eligibility to obtain certification
* Advanced training and/or significant clinical experience in obesity medicine and bariatric care.
* Established clinical expertise
* Commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centered care and programmatic growth.
* Strong interpersonal, leadership, and mentorship abilities.
* Demonstrated interest in teaching, research, and other scholarly activities.
