Electrical Controls Engineer – Dayton, OH
Full-Time | On-Site | $115,000–$130,000 | Up to 30% Travel
A leading provider of custom furnace systems and refractory solutions is hiring a full-time Electrical Controls Engineer to join their engineering team based in Dayton, Ohio. This role offers the opportunity to lead control system design, PLC/HMI programming, field commissioning, and provide hands-on engineering support for major industrial clients across North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Create electrical schematics and enclosure layouts using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
- Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI control systems (ladder logic and white paper programming)
- Develop parts order sheets and support panel builds
- Travel to customer sites (up to 30%) for startup, commissioning, and technical support
- Work closely with project managers and engineering leadership to define scope and support custom builds
- Interpret electrical codes, perform arc flash calculations, and support internal safety standards
- Support the continuous improvement of product designs and documentation standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on electrical engineering experience
- Siemens and Mitz systems
- 1+ years of AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical experience

- Experience with PLC logic, relay systems, and HMI development
- Working knowledge of 240V/480V single- and three-phase systems
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 30%
- Comfortable working in both an office and industrial environment
Preferred Experience
- Arc flash calculations or risk assessments
- Combustion systems or heat-based industrial equipment
Compensation & Benefits
- $115,000–$130,000 annual salary
