Position Summary

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and associates within the senior living community. This position provides a visible security presence, monitors the property and access points, responds to safety concerns and emergencies, and supports the community’s commitment to resident dignity, privacy, and quality of life.

Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the community.
• Monitor entrances, exits, parking areas, common areas, and other designated locations.
• Control and monitor access to the community in accordance with established policies.
• Conduct routine security and safety rounds of the property and report any unusual or potentially hazardous conditions.
• Monitor security cameras, alarms, emergency systems, and other security equipment as assigned.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, fire alarms, and other urgent situations.
• Contact emergency services, law enforcement, fire department, or other appropriate personnel when necessary.
• Complete accurate and timely incident, accident, and security reports.
• Assist with emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, and community drills.
• Help identify and report potential safety hazards, suspicious activity, property damage, or unauthorized access.
• Provide assistance and directions to residents, families, visitors, vendors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
• Follow established procedures for lost and found items, keys, access cards, and other controlled property.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, staff, visitors, and community operations.
• Work collaboratively with community leadership and other departments to address safety and security concerns.
• Maintain a calm, patient, and respectful approach when interacting with residents, including those who may have cognitive or mobility-related challenges.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma/GED

Licenses/Certifications: Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) or other certification as required by state regulations

Experience: 1+ years of security or public safety experience preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to remain calm and exercise good judgment during stressful or emergency situations.
• Strong observation, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interact compassionately and respectfully with older adults and their families.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Min: USD $18.00/Hr. Max: USD $20.00/Hr.
