Under the direction of the primary care operations team, the Primary Care Patient Care MA works directly with Mercy Primary Care Providers to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care in a systematic way. The Primary Care Patient Care MA will partner with patients, providers, and other members of the clinical care team to drive quality outcomes for all patients. 🩺 What You’ll Do
As a Medical Assistant in Primary Care, you’ll be a vital part of the patient experience and care team. Your responsibilities include:
Preparing patients for provider visits using the Advanced Standard Rooming Process:
- Documenting chief complaints
- Taking vitals, reviewing history and allergies
- Completing medication reconciliation
- Addressing care gaps (e.g., screenings, diabetic eye exams)
- Rechecking elevated blood pressures
- Documenting preventive visit details in Epic
🔬 Performing in-office testing:
- Blood draws
- Mental status exams
- EKGs
- Oxygen studies
- Point-of-care testing
Administering vaccines and injections within scope
Scheduling follow-up appointments per office policy
Collaborating with providers and clinical teams to support care plans
Qualifications
Primary Care Assistant – MA
- 🎓 Education: High School Diploma or GED
- 🩺 Certification: BLS required within 90 days of hire
- ⭐ Preferred Experience: 6+ months in clinical healthcare, ideally in primary care
Primary Care – Certified MA
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Certification: Active MA certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA)
- BLS: Required within 90 days of hire
LPN Option
- Education: Diploma in Practical Nursing
- Licensure: Active LPN license
- Preferred Experience: 6+ months in clinical healthcare, preferably primary care
