Shop Polisher

Seeking a detail-oriented Shop Polisher to support manufacturing and fabrication operations. This position is responsible for polishing, finishing, and preparing metal components using industrial polishing equipment while maintaining high quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience operating shop equipment, interpreting technical requirements, and producing consistent, high-quality finishes in a fast-paced environment.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Operate polishing equipment including engine lathes, rotary buffers, and dual-action (DA) polishers to achieve required surface finishes.
  • Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, sanding, deburring, blending, and polishing components prior to final inspection.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and technical instructions to ensure products meet customer requirements.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the polishing process to verify finish, dimensions, and overall workmanship.
  • Identify and correct surface imperfections such as scratches, burrs, oxidation, and tooling marks.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of polishing equipment, tools, and workstations.
  • Safely handle materials and move parts as required throughout the production process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with production, fabrication, and quality teams to meet production schedules and quality expectations.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial polishing, metal finishing, fabrication, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience operating lathes, rotary buffers, dual-action (DA) polishers, and similar finishing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality finished products.
  • Basic understanding of quality control processes and inspection techniques.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate shop equipment.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a significant plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and coordination for detailed polishing work.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions while maintaining precision and quality.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or shop environment around noise, vibration, and industrial equipment.

Safety Requirements

  • Comply with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Wear required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe boots, and additional protective equipment as required.
  • Participate in all required safety meetings and training.
  • Immediately report equipment concerns, hazards, or unsafe conditions.
