Director, Construction & Development

The Director, Construction & Development is responsible for overseeing the execution and delivery of data center development and construction projects within an assigned region. This role leads multiple concurrent projects from planning through commissioning and operational turnover, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with CyrusOne standards. The Director partners closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and vendors to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities:  

• Lead multiple data center development and construction projects within the assigned region.
• Manage project execution from pre-construction planning through commissioning and turnover to Operations.
• Oversee project schedules, budgets, forecasts, contracts, and change order processes.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Identify and resolve project risks, technical issues, and construction challenges.
• Monitor contractor, consultant, and vendor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide project status updates, financial reporting, and risk assessments to leadership.
• Lead and develop assigned team members, including direct supervision of project management staff.
• Partner with Development, Design & Engineering, Operations, Commissioning, Procurement, and Finance teams to achieve project objectives.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of construction management, project management, or mission-critical infrastructure experience.
• Experience leading large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and project teams.
• Strong understanding of construction project delivery, budgeting, forecasting, contract administration, and cost control.
• Knowledge of mission-critical facility infrastructure and commissioning practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and locations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
• Ability to travel approximately 30-50% within the assigned region

Education / Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Certified Project Manager (PMI) or similar project management certification (equivalent work experience may be substituted for certification)
