Full job description
Our client, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, is seeking a Lead Dimensional Engineer to join their team. As a Lead Dimensional Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting advanced sensor integration projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Lead Dimensional Engineer
Location: Foster City, CA
Pay Range: $100/hour + Benefits
What's the Job?
- Own the dimensional management for multiple major vehicle programs, ensuring precise sensor integration across various architectures.
- Lead the definition of functional requirements and establish robust datum schemes and tolerance allocations for sensor mounting and alignment.
- Review and approve metrology fixtures, ensuring alignment with strict program assembly and measurement standards.
- Develop and implement measurement and metrology strategies, identifying critical validation points from part level to full vehicle assembly.
- Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to evaluate capabilities, define limits, and manage engineering escalations to meet program targets.
What's Needed?
- 8 to 10 years of experience in dimensional management, variation simulation, or metrology within automotive, aerospace, or autonomous robotics sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Fixture Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in performing 1D and 3D Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) stack-ups to evaluate design feasibility.
- Advanced knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T principles, with a proven track record of creating, validating, and optimizing complex technical drawings.
- Practical expertise using CATIA V6 and 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) for visualization, manipulation, and interrogation of 3D models.
