About the Opportunity

Are you an organized, detail-driven professional with a passion for mission-driven work and nonprofit fundraising operations?

Avenica has partnered with our customer—a well-known science museum—to hire a Development & Marketing Specialist to support their Mission Advancement team on a contract basis.

This is a hands-on role at the intersection of fundraising, database management, project coordination, and donor relations. You’ll work closely with an established Mission Advancement team to manage deliverables, drive marketing initiatives, and serve as the department’s primary point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders. If you’re looking to apply your organizational and communication skills in a purpose-driven environment, this is a compelling opportunity.

Why Join Our Customer?

  • Competitive pay of $24.00/hour with a 20-week contract and potential for extension.
  • Hybrid schedule—work from home Mondays and Fridays, in office Tuesday through Thursday.
  • Meaningful work supporting a mission-driven nonprofit organization.
  • Broad exposure across fundraising operations, donor communications, database management, and event support.
  • Collaborative team environment with cross-departmental visibility.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Mission Advancement team on proposal creation, ensuring all deliverables are accurate and delivered on schedule.
  • Manage, write, and produce sponsorship fulfillment and funding reports—collecting data, building timelines, writing content, and coordinating cross-departmentally.
  • Track and manage department deadlines for solicitations, reporting, and benefit fulfillment.
  • Serve as project lead for recurring and ad-hoc projects; coordinate team members to keep workflows on track.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, objectives, and timelines.
  • Execute annual solicitation strategy, including email, direct mail, and tele-fundraising processes.
  • Create targeted mailing lists, data extractions, and reports within the department’s fundraising database.
  • Perform data entry of pledges, pledge payments, gifts, and credit card transactions with accuracy.
  • Maintain the integrity of the database, ensuring all constituent information is current and up to date.
  • Serve as the department’s primary customer service contact—responding to inquiries via phone and email from internal and external audiences.
  • Maintain program manuals and policy documents, particularly as they relate to database functionality.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure all production deadlines are met.
  • Act as liaison between the Mission Advancement and Accounts Payable departments.
  • Provide additional department support including administrative functions and special event assistance.

    What You Bring

  • Associate’s degree (AA) in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience with database platforms; comfort serving as a power user or admin for a CRM or fundraising database.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project management tools a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-service orientation with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
