Work Environment

The position is based onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Syracuse, New York, where we deliver professional and empathetic care to a diverse patient population. The work setting is bustling with activity but structured, as we prioritize patient safety and service excellence. Our operational hours are designed to cater to a wide range of patient needs, with a typical schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility may be required to accommodate additional patient sessions or urgent care needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist licensed Physical Therapists in executing tailored treatment plans designed to address specific rehabilitation goals for patients.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and activities aimed at fostering strength, mobility, and functional improvement.
• Educate patients on best practices for body mechanics and propose home exercise programs designed to support and enhance recovery.
• Administer therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, ensuring adherence to all safety guidelines under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Monitor and document patients’ progress meticulously, noting improvements in range of motion, strength, and overall functionality, while maintaining accurate records for compliance and reporting purposes.
• Prepare treatment areas, ensuring essential equipment and supplies are organized and accessible for seamless therapy sessions.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team that includes Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care and outcomes.
• Provide emotional and psychological support, creating a nurturing and encouraging environment that motivates patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.
• Uphold high ethical standards in patient care while ensuring confidentiality and respect for patient rights.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our PTA will engage with a varied patient demographic, including individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological impairments, and sports-related injuries, alongside geriatric and pediatric patients. This role requires a responsive and adaptable approach to care, recognizing the distinct challenges faced by different age groups and conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions relevant to physical therapy.
• Experience in implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities, showcasing competency under a Physical Therapist’s direction.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for building rapport with patients and working as part of a healthcare team.
• A compassionate attitude towards patient care, with a commitment to helping individuals achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 50,000 to 65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
