Minimum: $56,025.00 - Maximum: $56,025.00 Annually

Positions with a designated work location in New York City, Nassau, Rockland, Suffolk, or Westchester Counties will receive a $4,000 annual downstate adjustment (pro-rated for part-time positions).

Job Description:

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Program Research Specialist I to work within the Bureau of Cancer Epidemiology, New York State Department of Health. This role will be responsible for assisting with data management activities that include maintaining real-time dashboards, conducting quality assurance activities, supporting active research studies, and working across units within the Bureau. This position is ideal for an analytical thinker who enjoys various responsibilities—ranging from hands-on statistical analysis to project coordination and mentorship.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Statistics, Sociology or a related field; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and two years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR four years of such experience.


Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Statistics or related field and one year of experience in data analysis, collection and review. Experience and proficiency with spreadsheet, database, and report writing, using software applications such as SAS, Excel, Access, or similar. Experience with relational databases and with writing SQL queries to analyze data. Experience using Tableau to develop dashboards.  Experience working in a cancer registry and/or working with cancer data.


Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

 

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

 

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

 

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of onsite and remote work.

Work Location Expectations

At HRI, the nature of hybrid and onsite work varies by position. Some roles require full onsite presence, while others allow a hybrid schedule.
