Group Summary:

Supervises and coordinates the activities of the purchasing department. Oversees the procurement of production materials and supplies. Reviews quotes, bids and proposals from suppliers and analyzes their performance to track supplier quality and manage development.

1.    Know, understand and ensure compliance with Bowling Green Metalforming’s Quality and Environmental policies.
2.    Review and analyze monthly financial statements and forecasts.
3.    Analyze variances and make recommendations for gap improvements and cost reductions, through the mechanism of price breakdowns.
4.    Prepare reports and present recommendations to top management. 
5.    Collaborate with the Department Leader to achieve targets and objectives within the department.
6.    Develop and foster strong working relations with individuals, teams, and departments; conduct performance assessments, establish development/training requirements of the departmental team; and implement corrective measures, if required, to sustain effectiveness of services provided.
7.    Ensure compliance with all regulatory process requirements for the position.
8.    Provide support to the Department using SAP system processes and automation of reports.
9.    Provide support for BGM incentive programs.
10.    Responsible for the implementation of adequate professional practices in all related issues.
11.    Develop a long-term budget plan together with the Department Leader to control expenditure, assisting the Company and the Steering Team to achieve financial targets and objectives.
12.    Develop programs for Cost Savings and Cost Avoidance tracking, continuous improvement, establish procedures and job training.
13.    Participate in short and long-term supplier price reduction initiatives with engineering and materials departments to optimize purchased content and reduce costs from the supply chain flow.
14.    Collaborate closely with Divisional counterparts and other divisions to achieve and attain savings benefiting Company targets and objectives.
15.    Participate in recruiting new team members by conducting interviews as required.
16.    Lead sourcing and procurement of metal stampings.
17.    Develop and execute commodity strategies.
18.    Negotiate cost, quality, and delivery with suppliers.
19.    Monitor raw material trends (steel, aluminum)
20.    Manage supplier relationships and performance.
21.    Support New Program Launch activities.
22.    Drive cost reduction initiatives (VA/VE and CI/CR)
23.    Assist Department Leader with action items pertaining to the Supplier Rating Performance and Supplier Development.
24.    Perform other duties as required.
 

What we are looking for:

-    High School diploma or GED required.
-    Post-secondary education is preferred.
-    Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment required.
-    Stamping sourcing experience preferred.
-    Minimum of 5 years of Purchasing experience required. 
-    Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience required. 
-    Minimum of 3 years SAP experience required 

Preferred qualifications:

-    Computer skills: Highly Skilled in Microsoft Excel required; Proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.
-    Operate standard office equipment required.
