Summary

Under the direction and supervision of a physician, perform gross description, dissection of human tissue, surgical specimens and performs postmortem exams.

Job Description

Must utilize critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Pathologists' Assistant required. Due to changes within the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in 2010, employees with a Bachelor's degree and a Health and Human Services (HHS) approved laboratory Pathology Assistant certification may be considered for hire under leadership review.



Possess a Health and Human Services (HHS) approved laboratory certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. Due to changes within the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), employees hired on or before 2010 with no license are grandfathered.
