Full job description
Medical Assistant – Internal Medicine
Great Neck, NY | Onsite
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to join a well-established, patient-centered internal medicine practice in Great Neck, NY.
This is an opportunity to join the practice of Dr. Adam D. Cohen, an experienced internal medicine physician whose MDVIP-affiliated practice is built around highly personalized, relationship-based primary care. The practice maintains a smaller patient population, allowing the team to provide attentive, individualized care and a welcoming experience for each patient.
In this role, you will work closely with Dr. Cohen and the office team to support both clinical care and day-to-day practice operations. The ideal candidate is warm, professional, highly organized, and confident performing hands-on Medical Assistant responsibilities independently.
Because patients receive a high-touch level of care, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys getting to know patients, communicates with empathy, and takes pride in creating an exceptional experience from the moment a patient enters the office.
This is an onsite position in Great Neck, NY and is best suited for an experienced MA who is comfortable working independently and becoming an integral part of a close-knit practice team.
What You’ll Do
Perform hands-on clinical duties including EKGs, blood draws, vital signs, and other routine Medical Assistant responsibilities
Prepare patients for examinations and assist the physician during visits and procedures
Support comprehensive physicals, wellness visits, screenings, and diagnostic testing
Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record
Maintain organized, fully stocked exam rooms and clinical supplies
Assist with coordinating follow-up care, referrals, testing, and patient needs
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients regarding appointments and next steps
Help maintain an efficient and organized daily patient schedule
Greet and assist patients while creating a warm, welcoming, and professional office experience
Answer incoming calls and help patients with scheduling and general questions
Assist with patient check-in and check-out
Maintain accurate patient records and administrative documentation
Work closely with Dr. Cohen and the rest of the practice team to anticipate needs and keep the office running smoothly
Build strong relationships with patients and contribute positively to the practice’s personalized approach to care
What We’re Looking For
Medical Assistant certification or relevant MA training/credentials
Previous Medical Assistant experience required — this is not an entry-level position
Ability to independently perform blood draws, EKGs, vital signs, and other routine clinical duties
Experience in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, or a similar outpatient setting strongly preferred
Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills
Warm, compassionate, and professional demeanor
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Comfortable using electronic health records and learning new technology
Ability to manage both clinical and administrative responsibilities
Dependable, proactive, and comfortable working as part of a small, close-knit team
Someone who takes pride in providing a highly personalized patient experience
Why Join
Join a well-established internal medicine practice in Great Neck
Work closely alongside an experienced physician in a smaller, relationship-focused practice
Develop meaningful, long-term relationships with patients rather than working in a high-volume clinical environment
Be part of a close-knit team where your work has a direct impact on the patient experience
Support a model of primary care focused on prevention, comprehensive wellness, accessibility, and individualized attention
Enjoy a professional environment where compassion, responsiveness, and attention to detail are central to how patients are cared for
