Your Impact as a Kennel Assistant Manager

The Kennel Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the kennel department, ensuring exceptional patient care, cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. This position oversees kennel staff, maintains high standards of animal husbandry, supports the medical team, and ensures a positive experience for clients and their pets.

Your Impact Will Include:

Management Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring open communication with direct reports and leadership.
  • Keeping Hospital Manager informed of any staff issues; assisting in solutions to resolve issues.
  • Training of new kennel staff and maintaining management of current kennel staff.
  • Ensuring team is following proper policies and procedures; addressing issues timely and effectively inclusive of proper documentation when necessary.
  • Assisting the Hospital Manager in generating and posting the staff schedule.
  • Delegating tasks appropriately when necessary to ensure shifts are running smoothly and safely.
  • Completing other duties as assigned by the Hospital Manager or other leadership to ensure optimal care of pets, customer service, and overall operation of the resort.

Pet & Facility Responsibilities:

  • Providing Compassionate Care: You will provide daily care to boarding pets and hospitalized patients, including feeding, watering, and exercising them according to schedule.
  • Managing Admissions and Discharges: You'll handle check-ins and check-outs, talking with owners, recording feeding/medication instructions, labeling belongings, and ensuring every pet goes home clean and happy.
  • Monitoring Patient Health: You will walk through the kennel area regularly to check for abnormal activity (vomiting, diarrhea, stress), properly marking records and reporting issues to doctors and technicians immediately.
  • Administering Medications: You will administer medications and flea/tick control to pets boarding with us, accurately recording instructions on the kennel medication board.
  • Maintaining a Clean Environment: You'll clean and disinfect cages, runs, yards, litter boxes, and bowls using proper protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) to control infectious diseases.
  • Delivering TLC: You will perform extra "TLC" playtimes, walks, or baths for clients who have requested special attention for their pets.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to safely handle animals of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, walk, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital, boarding facility, or animal care environment.
