While the Medical Assistant Lead does not have direct reports, their role is vital in supporting practice leadership in clinical and administrative tasks that impact patient care and practice operations. Medical Assistant Leads must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

We’re Looking For:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must have 2 years of medical assistant experience
Phlebotomy skills are preferred.
Certified or registered as a CMA or RMA
What You’ll Do:
Schedule: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday
As a Lead Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.
As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:
Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
Assists the department leader to support daily workflow and operations for maximum efficiency and productivity (i.e. developing and modifying staffing schedules, medication/supply ordering, audits, etc.)
Assists with training and onboarding and acts as a resource for the team.
Serves as a role champion or on a committee to support quality, safety, teammate engagement, patient experience, and general process improvement initiatives.
Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings
Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered
Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order.
Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
