What You'll Do
As a Correctional Dental Assistant, you'll assist the dentist in providing routine and emergency dental care within a CDOC clinical setting.
Responsibilities may include:
- Provide chairside assistance during general dentistry procedures
- Prepare treatment areas, instruments, and materials for dental procedures
- Obtain digital dental X-rays
- Set up and assist with restorative procedures
- Select and pass instruments during treatment
- Sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Maintain proper infection-control practices
- Follow radiation safety and exposure-control procedures
- Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous and medically contaminated waste
- Assist with dental clinic scheduling and daily operations
- Maintain appropriate tool, chemical, and supply controls
- Educate patients on preventive dental care and oral health
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Work collaboratively with the dentist and CDOC healthcare team
